Sangres Art Guild celebrates Colorado’s 150th with the traveling 50 Artist “Canvas Quilt” Project on display for the month of August at 3rd Street Gallery. This is a unique project that involved 50 artists with a blank 10”x10” canvas and two art organizations—Sangres Art Guild and Fremont Center for the Arts. The result is a collaborative, inspired piece of artwork in celebration of the state of Colorado’s sesquicentennial. It is a memorable work of art that shares some of the most original art pieces of this area. You don’t want to miss seeing this brilliant canvas with every style, every Colorado subject, every vibrant color—celebrating life in Colorado.
This exhibit runs from July 30th to August 29th. 3rd Street Gallery is located at 59000 Hwy 69, one block north of Main Street, and is open Thursday through Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

This quintessential American fairy tale has had countless adaptations to stage and screen over the years – including those by Baum himself. The story of Dorothy and her dog Toto, who are blown by a tornado to the marvelous Land of Oz, and who must confront both a Wizard and a Witch to get home to Kansas, aided by their magical companions the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion, has delighted audiences of all ages for over a century.

This is a unique project that involved 50 artists with a blank 10”x10” canvas and two art organizations—Sangres Art Guild and Fremont Center for the Arts. The result is a collaborative, inspired piece of artwork in celebration of the state of Colorado’s sesquicentennial. It is a memorable work of art that shares some of the most original art pieces of this area. You don’t want to miss seeing this brilliant canvas with every style, every Colorado subject, every vibrant color—celebrating life in Colorado.

Experienced solar astronomers will be on hand to answer your questions and to help you identify the surface features of the Sun. Nine of our Solar Sessions coincide with the dates of free, public night-time sessions at the Smokey Jack Observatory. This provides an opportunity to observe the Sun, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters all on the same day!

This is a unique project that involved 50 artists with a blank 10”x10” canvas and two art organizations—Sangres Art Guild and Fremont Center for the Arts. The result is a collaborative, inspired piece of artwork in celebration of the state of Colorado’s sesquicentennial. It is a memorable work of art that shares some of the most original art pieces of this area. You don’t want to miss seeing this brilliant canvas with every style, every Colorado subject, every vibrant color—celebrating life in Colorado.

Fly in or drive out to the SilverWest AirFest, held on Saturday August 15, 2026—pancake breakfast, live music, craft vendors, food vendors, airplanes & helicopters, special events for kids and loads of family fun. Enjoy the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains as a backdrop and watch an array of vintage and modern aircrafts (including helicopters!) take off and land. You can walk to up close to some of the different aircraft on display. Gates open at 7:30 am.

Solar Observing Sessions are always free of charge and require no reservation. Safely enjoy views of solar flares, Sun spots, and other surface detail of the Sun through our dedicated hydrogen-alpha and white-light Solar Telescopes. Experienced solar astronomers will be on hand to answer your questions and to help you identify the surface features of the Sun. Nine of our Solar Sessions coincide with the dates of free, public night-time sessions at the Smokey Jack Observatory. This provides an opportunity to observe the Sun, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters all on the same day!
Dark Skies of the Wet Mountain Valley is the premier all-volunteer, non-profit organization in the Wet Mountain Valley providing opportunities for visitors and locals to view the wonders of the universe.

Sangres Art Guild celebrates Colorado’s 150th with the traveling 50 Artist “Canvas Quilt” Project on display for the month of August at 3rd Street Gallery. This is a unique project that involved 50 artists with a blank 10”x10” canvas and two art organizations—Sangres Art Guild and Fremont Center for the Arts. The result is a collaborative, inspired piece of artwork in celebration of the state of Colorado’s sesquicentennial. It is a memorable work of art that shares some of the most original art pieces of this area. You don’t want to miss seeing this brilliant canvas with every style, every Colorado subject, every vibrant color—celebrating life in Colorado.
This exhibit runs from July 30th to August 29th. 3rd Street Gallery is located at 59000 Hwy 69, one block north of Main Street, and is open Thursday through Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

Solar Observing Sessions are always free of charge and require no reservation. Safely enjoy views of solar flares, Sun spots, and other surface detail of the Sun through our dedicated hydrogen-alpha and white-light Solar Telescopes. Experienced solar astronomers will be on hand to answer your questions and to help you identify the surface features of the Sun. Nine of our Solar Sessions coincide with the dates of free, public night-time sessions at the Smokey Jack Observatory. This provides an opportunity to observe the Sun, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters all on the same day!
Dark Skies of the Wet Mountain Valley is the premier all-volunteer, non-profit organization in the Wet Mountain Valley providing opportunities for visitors and locals to view the wonders of the universe.

Sangres Art Guild celebrates Colorado’s 150th with the traveling 50 Artist “Canvas Quilt” Project on display for the month of August at 3rd Street Gallery. This is a unique project that involved 50 artists with a blank 10”x10” canvas and two art organizations—Sangres Art Guild and Fremont Center for the Arts. The result is a collaborative, inspired piece of artwork in celebration of the state of Colorado’s sesquicentennial. It is a memorable work of art that shares some of the most original art pieces of this area. You don’t want to miss seeing this brilliant canvas with every style, every Colorado subject, every vibrant color—celebrating life in Colorado.

This exhibit runs from July 30th to August 29th. 3rd Street Gallery is located at 59000 Hwy 69, one block north of Main Street, and is open Thursday through Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

There is nothing like live music in a beautiful setting. The High Peaks Summerfest concert series, hosted by KLZR 91.7 FM, is held on Sunday afternoons in August. All shows are FREE and will be held at: All Aboard Westcliffe Rail Depot at 102 Main Street. Rain Venue: All Aboard Westcliffe Heritage Center, 110 Rosita Avenue.
Each year’s lineup is unique and includes Folk, Singer/Songwriter, Americana and Bluegrass.
